High achievers in the equestrian world.
Together, Maurice and Sally are Kiwi Horses. They work seamlessly as a team preparing and training horses and taking them out to shows and events.
Maurice breaks in the youngsters they breed and the horses are developed
and brought through the grades and channelled towards the disciplines they are most suited whether it be show jumping, eventing, hunting, dressage, or even polo or trekking and pleasure horses.
In their odd free moments they like to get away to the Taupo house or take off for time on the ski slopes in the winter.
Sally comes from a horsey pedigree.
Her mother, Patricia Dalrymple (nee Robson) represented the North Island in show jumping and continued on to be very involved in top level dressage judging and also breeding of hanoverians.
Sally rode ponies from a very young age and was involved in dressage and show jumping, but predominantly in eventing. The highlight of her career was a silver medal at the Olympic Games, but was surrounded by many other successes:
Silver medal in Individual Three Day Event at Atlanta 1996 on Squirrel Hill
Team Gold Medal World Equestrian Games Rome 1998
Badminton Horse Trials 1997 placed 6th on Squirrel Hill
Member of the New Zealand Eventing Team 1994-1998
Luhmuhlen German National Championships 2nd place on Squirrel Hill in 1997

Sally graduated from Massey University with a Master of Business Studies in 1992 and from University of Otago with a Diploma in Physical Education in 1979. She spent many years in secondary schools enjoying teaching Physical Education and Economics. Now much of her spare time is taken up with teaching horse riding. She has been responsible for the success of many pupils in all disciplines although presently she is mainly in demand for her skills in show jumping instruction.
Maurice has been riding since he was a small boy.
In the early days he rode eventing, winning the DC Trophy (for riders under 17years) on Golden Cloud, and it was in eventing that he first represented New Zealand, in Australia on Lord Aurora. He then moved on to show jumping and has had a glittering career - this includes:
5 Horse of the Year Titles (and 8 times runner-up)
represented New Zealand at the Soeul Olympic Games in 1988 on Jefferson Junior
rode Apollo van Evendael at the WEG in Kentucky in 2010
rode Irish Embassy at the World Equestrian Games at The Hague in 1994

When Maurice isn't riding horses he is busy farming sheep and cattle in partnership with his son Andrew on their 1800 hectare farm near Dannevirke, in Southern Hawkes Bay. Or helping his other son Jamie at his Cambridge equestrian property, Ohukia Lodge.
He also operates a breeding programme running a warmblood stallion and 5 mares.
